- Take Ingredient A - blend:
- Prepare 1/2 Big brown/Yellow Onion
- Take 1/2 Big Red Onion
- Prepare 1/2 C dried Chillies (cut & soaked)
- Make ready 2 Big Red Chillies
- Get 3 Garlic
- Get Ingredient B
- Take 1/2 C cooking oil
- Make ready 1/2 Big Yellow Onion - cut/sliced
- Take 2 tbsp tamarind juice (or 1 tsp paste) i used tamarind peel/slic
- Take To taste - Chicken seasoning powder - i use 1 tsp
- Prepare To taste - sugar - i used 1 tsp
- Make ready To taste - salt - if needed
Instructions to make Red Hot Squid:
- Prepare all ingredients. Note: adjust chillies accordingly. Add more for those who love it spicy.
- Over medium heat, preheat cooking oil. Add blended ingredients until translucent & aromatic. Add tamarind peel and keep stirring until paste separates from oil. Very important step in cooking this type of dish (in many malaysian dishes)
- Add 1tsp of chicken powder seasoning (or to taste) & 1tsp of sugar (or to taste later). Mix well then add squid & sliced yellow onion (see pic). Keep stirring over medium heat until lightly dried and squid well cooked.
