  1. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil and cook the rice based on packet instructions.
  2. Heat the sesame oil and sunflower oil in a work or frying pan and stir fry the onion and garlic for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the carrot and broccoli and stir fry for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add the beef strips and stir fry for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Mix the cornflour with 1 tablespoon of cold water and stir in the beef stock.
  6. Stir this into the pan, together with the sugar, soy sauce and toasted sesame seeds.
  7. Bring to a simmer and cook for two minutes before serving with the rice.

The sauce consists of brown sugar, dark soy sauce, regular soy sauce and water. I use half of the sauce as a marinade and the other half to cook with the beef. The trick to this dish is cooking the steak quickly over high heat. It gets a nice sear on the outside but stays nice and. This beef also goes great over white or brown rice or cauliflower rice.
