Instructions to make Spinach with Tofu sauce - Shiraae-:

- Drain the tofu using the strainer for more than 30 minutes.

- Blanch the spinach for 20 or 30 seconds, and shimeji and carrot for 10 seconds.

- Mash tofu until creamy, and mix with tofu sauce.

- Dress the spinach, shimeji mushrooms and carrot with the tofu sauce. ※Sesame seeds can be replaced with walnuts or peanuts. You can use peanut butter, too.
You may also use it as a filling for whole wheat pita bread. Shiraae or Mashed Tofu Salad is a classic Japanese dish made of tender green beans, creamy tofu, nutty sesame seeds, and savory miso. This is a spinach salad with a flavorful sesame sauce (hourensou no goma-ae) that is very similar to our Green Beans with Sesame Sauce Freshly ground sesame has a stronger aroma. Heat the oil and soy sauce, then add the tofu. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, if desired.
