- In a heavy pan or kadai heat oil
- Once the oil is hot, add asofatida, 3-4 red chillies and urad dal and saute it.
- Add roasted split Bengal gram (roasted chana dal) and saute it.
- Now add garlic pod, and onions.
- Once the onions start changing colour add tomatoes.
- Cook it till it's soft and pulpy.
- Add salt, mix and turn off the flame.
- Once the mixture is cooled take it in the blender and grind it well. Add a little water if required.
- Take the grounded chutney in bowl. And prepare the tempering.
- For tempering, in a small kadai heat remaining oil, add mustard seeds and let it splutter
- Now add 2 dried red chillies and add a pinch of asofatida.
- Turn off the flame and Add the tempering to the prepared chutney.
- (can add more chillies or chillie powder as per your liking)
